Art III - week three

Art III students will create drawings that demonstrate NON-LINEAR & LINEAR PERSPECTIVE. They will draw over the marbelized paper we created last week using pen, pencil and white
prismacolor.

AP Art & Art IV - week three

AP art students will consider the concept of using only LINE to create MASS/VOLUME.

Typically a drawing that shows mass is done with shapes...

The challenge is to create volume without relying on the shape...

Students will use black and white charcoal on colored paper.

color review

The color reviews reference Henri Matisse's cut paper collages and Pablo Picasso's anti-war painting, Guernica.

Matisse, Sorrow of the King

Picasso, Guernica
We will also use the ancient Japanese technique of Suminagashi to create marbelized paper.

We will end the week with a review of LINEAR AND NON-LINEAR METHODS FOR CREATING PERSPECTIVE.

Art IV & AP Art - week one

Art IV and AP Art quickly reviewed classroom procedures and policies and then got right to work.
We have begun the year with drawings based off of anatomy illustrations from Science books. The student are using ink to demonstrate: VALUE, MARK MAKING, IMPLIED FORM & DIRECTIONAL SHADING.  All of these concepts are a review from Art III.
